High-speed R-G-B-NIR line scan imaging – now with CoaXPress (CXP-12).

Capture red, green, blue, and near-infrared (R-G-B-NIR) data simultaneously at line rates of up to 146,000 lines per second.


JAI expands its Sweep+ Series of prism-based line scan cameras with two new 4-CMOS multispectral models featuring the high-speed CoaXPress 2.0 CXP-12 interface. The new SW-8000Q-CXP2A and SW-4000Q-CXP2A combine simultaneous red, green, blue, and near-infrared (RGB-NIR) imaging with resolutions of 8192 (8K) and 4096 (4K) pixels per line, respectively.

Simultaneous and separate imaging of R-G-B and NIR with a single camera:

Designed for demanding inspection and sorting applications, the cameras use four CMOS sensors mounted on a prism that separates incoming light into red, green, blue, and NIR wavelengths. All four spectral channels are captured simultaneously through a common optical path, providing accurate spatial alignment and eliminating the off-angle viewing, spatial compensation, and 3D cylindrical offset issues that can affect cameras with quadlinear technology.

The additional NIR channel extends inspection capabilities beyond conventional RGB imaging, enabling users to simultaneously detect features, defects, and foreign materials that may be difficult or impossible to distinguish using visible light alone. 

Get line rates up to 146,000 lines/second via CoaXPress 2.0 (CXP-12) interface:
The SW-8000Q-CXP2A delivers true RGB-NIR output at line rates of up to 73 kHz (73,000 lines per second), while the SW-4000Q-CXP2A reaches up to 146 kHz (146,000 lines per second). Both cameras feature a CoaXPress 2.0 CXP-12 interface using two Micro-BNC connectors and support Power-over-CoaXPress (PoCXP) as well as CXP-6 and CXP-3 configurations. Triggering can also be handled through the CoaXPress connection, while direct rotary encoder connectivity simplifies synchronization with conveyor belts and other motion systems.

A range of advanced features to further optimize image quality:
To optimize imaging performance for different applications, the cameras provide individual gain and exposure control for the R, G, B, and NIR channels, plus vertical and horizontal binning for improved light sensitivity. The SW-4000Q-CXP2A additionally offers a choice between 7.5 µm × 7.5 µm and 7.5 µm × 10.5 µm pixel sizes, while the SW-8000Q-CXP2A features 3.75 µm × 5.78 µm pixels. Region-of-Interest (ROI) settings can be used to further increase scan rates when full line width is not required.

Built-in image processing includes PRNU/DSNU correction, black level adjustment, flat and color shading correction, chromatic aberration compensation, horizontal mirroring, and noise filtering. Integrated color conversion enables RGB output to be converted to HSI, CIE XYZ, sRGB, Adobe RGB, or custom RGB formats.

Both models are available with F-mount or M52 lens mount options and feature a rugged design for 3G vibration and 50G shock.
